How WE Asked!
I'm going to be honest...choosing bridesmaids may have been the most stressful, anxiety-filled responsibilities I've ever had to do. Well, besides surviving my early 20's.
Before I even got engaged, I knew in my heart that I wanted about 10 bridesmaids. LOL. What, too many? I've been blessed with so many close friends who I consider my sisters. Yes, I am an only child. And surprise - I DO have friends!
After Brad proposed, he told me he could round up 6 of his best bros. I realistically wanted 8, but I knew that I was going to have to settle because I wanted us both to have the same amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen. I may be an awkward, goofy person more often than not, but I am not one for awkward conversations. I love my girls equally, and I hated the idea of ranking them based off of friendship history and proximity. I knew that I would have to sit down with a few of them and explain our situation. Ugh.
Bad news: I had those dreaded conversations.
Good news: Our friendships remained the same. That's the thing about best friends. If they love and care about you, they will understand. In actuality, the only difference is that they don't have to be forced into a dress that I personally get to pick out for them 😉
So fear not, beloved brides. In the end, everything works out. And if you really want them to be involved, have those friends wear a similar color to the bridesmaid dresses, so that they can be included in the wedding pictures too!
Below is how I asked 6 of my girls to be in my bridal party 🎀 I hope these ideas inspire you!
Brunch is ALWAYS a good idea. Bottomless mimosas included, of course. And if you plan on treating, check out Groupon for awesome restaurant discounts. Not an ad - I swear. Sea Legs Wine Bar in Huntington Beach, CA was offering a deal that came out to $20 per person for an entree + bottomless mimosas. DONE ✔️
Ps - Here it is if you're interested and/or in the area! ➡️ Sea Legs Wine Bar Saturday Brunch
I gave the girls these pretty photo boxes from Michael's, and wrote their names on the lid using sticker letters from Target. HelloOo, dollar section
- Rifle Paper Co. Card - "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?"
- Debi Lilly Lavender Candle - Our venue has lavender fields for days...
- A mini Barefoot bottle of Moscato. Pop the bubbly!
- The kindest "To-Do" List you'll ever read. Target.
- A sweet Bando pen to go with their list.
- OPI Nail Polish - "Just Lanai-ing Around" - Now to find matching dresses...
- Ring Pop. Uh huh honey, I put a sugary ring on it.
Mission. Accomplished. ❤️👯👯👯❤️
Let's take a look at how Bradley asked his groomsmen, shall we?
Isn't my fiancé so creative?! Let's just say it was a joint effort 💁🏼 Brad wanted to ask his dudes in a unique way, but nothing overly sweet. I gazed upon Pinterest for a few weeks before finally deciding on this personalized shot glass + mini bottle of liquor combo. Ain't it cute?
I found these cardboard boxes from Hobby Lobby. The yarn and filling were from the dollar store. Yup, you read that right! I painted the lids a metallic gold, and chose to wrap the box in dark navy yarn. Pssst, that's going to be the color of their suits 😍
We had to ship these bad boys off since Brad isn't in California, but everyone said YES!
Ahhh, another major task checked off my wedding to-do list. There is nothing sweeter than getting sh*t done before your wedding! How did YOU ask your bridesmaids/groomsmen? I'd love to hear all about it! Leave it in the comments 😘
